The component that decides when the element gets power is the main PCB — its heater relay circuit has failed closed, so the element stays energized no matter the cycle logic. That makes this a safety issue, not just a performance one: an element that never shuts off, in a machine full of lint and laundry, is a fire risk multiplying with every unattended load. Twenty minutes on site was enough to prove it, precisely because the test was chosen to be decisive.
