A Wesbrook Village homeowner needed two worn components addressed on their Gaggenau RB492701 built-in refrigerator: a freezer door gasket that had lost its seal, and a fridge door handle that had come loose. Both are ordinary wear items — a gasket compresses, dries, and eventually tears after years of daily sealing cycles, and a handle loosens under constant use — but on a 400-series built-in, they are worth doing properly rather than living with. A gasket that no longer seals lets the freezer fight condensation and frost it shouldn’t have to.
TechVill diagnosed the two failures and ordered the parts on a first visit, then returned to install them once the components were on hand. Technicians Alex and Albin fitted both as a two-person job:
Components replaced:
- Freezer door gasket (part #00710673) — the perimeter seal that keeps cold air in and warm, humid air out of the freezer compartment
- Fridge door handle (part #00688160) — the exterior handle assembly for the refrigerator door
With both parts in, they ran and tested the unit — all operations confirmed good — in about 50 minutes on site. The installed components carry a 90-day warranty.
Gaggenau parts run through BSH Group’s OEM service channel (the 8-digit 00-prefix numbering shared across the BSH premium brands). On a built-in of this calibre, a matched OEM gasket is not a cosmetic choice: the seal profile has to fit the door and cabinet exactly to hold temperature and avoid frost, and a generic gasket that sits proud or loose reintroduces the problem it was meant to solve.
The work was billed transparently across the two visits — parts and handling prepaid when the order was placed, labour collected on completion — for a total of $998.55 including GST.
